Stay Protected and Stay Connected With The Launch of ADT’s New Pulse App
Your home and business just got safer and your smartphone just got smarter. On July 21st ADT launched its new ADT Pulse App for Apple and Android, as well as other web-enabled mobile devices, including your tablet or computer. ADT’s New Pulse App delivers not only greater security for you and your family – or if you have it installed in your business – for your employees and inventory, but it also provides greater convenience because ‘voice control’ is now an integral feature. You no longer have to switch between manual and voice for controlling your home or office security systems.
Now, when you speak, you control. The new look is sleeker with an improved layout. As soon as you log on you are greeted by your cameras. You get an immediate feeling of control. The live streaming from your chosen camera shows you exactly what is happening. You see the arm/disarm status, below which is a log of any recent activity. Below that – or to the left, depending on your preferred screen orientation – you see your devices conveniently listed, so you can switch from one to the other, quite seamlessly, and all through voice commands. From your remote location you can:-
- Tell the system to arm or disarm
- Control specific locks, either by voice command or according to a predefined schedule
- Open or close your garage door – sometimes you do leave it open, and sometimes children forget their key
- View real-time video – securely from any location
- Control your home or business’s lights, to give the impression the property is occupied
- Adjust the thermostat to save you some money, and to make sure your home is comfortable for when you or the children arrive home. The Nest Learning Thermostat, if you already have one installed, will link direct to your new app. If you do not, this might be an excellent opportunity to see if the utility savings and added comfort are in order
- You get email or text alerts to tell you that something planned (like the children are home from school, or that late delivery just arrived) or that something unplanned has just happened. Not only will you be warned of an unplanned event but the app tells you which window, door or motion detector was activated
- Depending on whether the system is for your home or business you can design what ADT calls your customized visual experience, to suit the specifics of the location. It is a sobering thought that there have been a number of instances where a security alert led to police or other professionals visiting a location, and finding nothing to indicate a break-in. The police leave, after a cursory, exterior search. In some of those instances the perpetrators were either still in the building or in the nearby vicinity. By gaining access via a neighboring property’s adjoining wall or through the roof, there are no obvious signs of illegal activity. With the ADT Pulse 7.0 you would be warned, immediately, of definite activity, and the security cameras would give you – and subsequent prosecutors – visual proof. Having that real-time proof would also enable you to advise responding professionals of where, exactly, to go while they investigate
- The ‘Always-On Dashboard’ gives you current information, as it happens, and also enables you to control what happens next via the automation tools built into the app
- There are some excellent options you can add. You can now monitor any carbon monoxide release – that odorless, colorless killer that has grabbed news headlines in the past few months. Another very timely feature is flood-monitoring. Many states have seen seriously destructive floods hit normally quite safe neighborhoods, so you can now monitor a lot more than just expected or unexpected entry
